Dr. Barbara Alston is an accomplished academic and business leader with over two decades of expertise in Human Resources and Business Management. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Nova Southeastern University, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Averett University in Virginia.
Dr. Alston currently serves as an Associate Professor of Human Resources, where she brings her extensive leadership and industry experience into the classroom. With more than 20 years of leadership experience, she has also worked in the Human Resources and Financial Services sectors for over 18 years. Her passion for education extends beyond teaching, as she has chaired several dissertation committees and teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in business, leadership, and HR.
Certified in both the public and private sectors of HR (SHRM-CP & PSHRA-SCP), Dr. Alston also serves as a peer reviewer for Leadership and HR journals, striving to contribute to her field through annual publications. Her dedication to scholarship and professional excellence helps shape the future leaders of the business world.
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Alston has since relocated to Orlando, Florida, though she frequently visits Virginia to spend time with family. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and quality time with her loved ones.
